This panorama, taken by James Blakeway, features the Purdue Boilermakers men’s basketball team playing at Mackey Arena. More than four years in the making, the $99.5 million Mackey Arena remodel was completed just in time for the 2011-12 basketball season. The scope of the project was significant and was designed to have a positive effect on all Boilermaker student-athletes. It included a new three-level structure built adjacent to Mackey, devoted to academic support, sports medicine and sports performance. The arena concourse also tripled in size and includes 10 areas collectively called the Ring of Honor. The remodel brought a 40-plus-year-old campus landmark into the 21st century.
